DON'T BUY A KAMISORI!!!!
*Sorry for yelling, but I can't be more plain. I have a $50 kamisori letter opener.
Some of the guys were given kamisori's a few months ago to test and as I recall the reviews were less than stellar. Supposedly their razors are now made by Dovo but personally I would just buy a Dovo that way you know what you are getting. Even better than that get a TI.
Or even better get a vintage shave ready from one of the guys here on the BST forum. Cheaper than new and will hold its value.
Of course I might be a tad biased...
Dangerous,
Yah, but on their off time I understand the Kamisoris make stellar letter openers. Double duty on the same dollar.
:D Bruce
Kamisori: butter knives cleverly disguised as straight razors!
OK, triple duty! This could be better than 4 wheel drive on a pickup: butter knife, letter opener, and razor. Could life get much better?

Seems these razors are a much maligned product out and about, but I have one of the Paladin's and actually like the way it shaves... I have never tried the Blue Blade so I couldn't weigh in on an opinion there.
Honest is honest and the Paladin has never given me any trouble at all, hones up nice, takes to the strop just fine. One thing I would say is that is is pretty finicky about pressure on the blade when stropping. But then again so are Dovo's and DD's...
I use the Kamisori as my Gym Razor so it actually gets quite a bit of use, I figured that it is easy to replace if I get stupid and forget it or it gets "lost" at the gym.
One thing though, this is not a beginner's razor it needs proper care and feeding, and it seems to like a fine pasted strop at least once a month to keep it happy... they tend to need a little extra care and a light hand. Now we seem to have no problem doing this for our $200-$400 razors even that special vintage one we got off E-bay for $25 or the DD we bought for $100, but heaven forbid we have to actually take care of the $59.99 Kamisori that we tried, just another opinion on this thread :)

Before finding you folks, and getting your input, I bought one of the blue models. On opening the package, the edge looked as if it had been burned at the heel from too much heat in the final finishing. I returned it , and was refunded my money, but that took over a month, due to the post and customs.
Bagel buttering? Do I hear any votes for bagel buttering? I thought the Zeepk "razors" were for openign the mail? :hmmm:
hey guys, i saw this thread and i wanted to ask, what about a vintage kamisori? this razor is a straight razor, but like an iwasaki, it does not fold. i looked at kamisoris website and their folding razors looked kind of cheap. i found this on ebay and i am hoping i dont get ripped off.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks-mikey-
Wow, old thread...!
It depends on what sort of Kamisori you mean? Razors like the Iwasaki Kamisori are Japanese straight razors and shave very well. The Kamisori company this thread is talking about make Western style razors that are not suitable for shaving with.
Your best bet is to post a link to the auction in the Auction talk forum and have other members take a look if you are not sure.
Good luck!

+1.. On what Stubear says. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have two Iwasaki's and they beautiful. The shave is superb. They are not for everyone. They are not cheap, beware of imitations and if you decide to take the plunge, get one from a reliable source.
Have a nice day:)
