    Default Little-known razors from Sheffield.

Some manufacturers of razors have left a deep mark and everything about them is known. But almost nothing is known about certain manufacturers of razors. In any case, in the public domain.
All I could find out about the Bertram manufacturer was that it was a partner of Pickslay and Appleby.

Another manufacturer who made stunningly beautiful razors was John Milton. I know even less about him. Managed to find mention of the fact that the famous manufacturer of razors "Atkinson bros" made their products at Milton Works, located on Milton street in Sheffield. Although, Milton Works and the manufacturer John Milton may not be related in any way.

If someone has information about these manufacturers, please share it.

A John Milton razor was sold on ebay. But it was expensive. I don't think anyone bought it.Name: Screenshot_20200220-185104.jpg

Very beautiful! Note how the lower end of scales is made.
On this forum, I found a mention of Joseph Milton. There is also an explanation of this interesting thing on the scales.

Stunning razor..I have at least one razor with that kind of wedge end.I think it's just fanciful and reserved for special pieces ..

A little additional info in case you don't know the VR on Sheffield razors stand for 'Victoria's Reign' which will help establish approximate date of manufacture.

To be a bit more exact, VR is Queen Victoria's royal cypher. The R in this case standing for "Regina" which is Latin for Queen. That does not change the fact that it will give you an approximate period of time when it was made as in during her reign.

If the royal cypher refers to a King, the R would stand for "Rex" being Latin for King. If it was for King Edward VII, it would be EVIIR.

I've never seen an EVIR stamp. Very interesting.
Meanwhile, I found a couple more photos of the John Milton razor.

Neither have I. I just gave that as an example of a royal cypher if the name of the King/Queen had been used before. The current Queen's royal cypher is EIIR, her name having been used once before by the first Queen Elizabeth.

Found a photo of a Joseph Milton razor. Are Joseph Milton and John Milton related or are they different brands? There are more questions than answers...Name: Screenshot_20200224-174824_1.jpg

How about a Bolsover Sheffield? I have nowhere near as many razors or experience as some here, but I've never seen anotherName: DSC_0111.jpg
