Brian Brown Razors

Hello all... So about 2 months ago I started to get that feeling of needing to purchase a new SR.. It has been awhile since I treated myself to new so my search commenced..At first I was really liking the classic production Bergischer Lowe.. Sweet razors but decided I was going with custom or at least semi custom.. After some time of looking and thought I remembered before I was an actual forum member I was a lurker for quite some time and this would have been around 2015.. Seemed as though during the years of 15 & 16 i heard and read guys who had purchased Brian Brown Razors.. Moving ahead to now I can't recall much talk or comment on them.. So wondering if anyone know if he is still making razors? And if any of you guys have his razors I would love to hear your feedback.. My preference for this razor is wedge or as close to as possible.. Like always i appreciate any and all responses..

Well, his site says "Not Currently Taking Custom Orders", and he has exactly 2 non-customs on sale there, so I'd guess he's not really selling razors these days.
But don't you worry: there are a few others who can make one for you, depending on you desired price point. Koraat or Ralf Aust for example both have very convenient web sites to make an order. And of course there are a few razor makers right here on this forum.

Well shit-skee.. I went to BB's website a few days ago and did indeed see the 2 in stock but must have passed right over the Not currently taking orders.. My bad..
Currently own a Koraat 14.2. Previously purchased a sweet little red bluesman 5/8 sweeper courtesy of Victor that was a great piece but just too small for myself & also a previous owner of Ralf Aust's basic 6/8 black plastic scale razor.. That is one of my very few razors I regret selling. I was very inexperienced at that time and talked myself into thinking it was the razor and not me giving bad shaves.. Thank you for putting Ralf back into my head though.. Might be a great one to revisit now..

Someone from another site contacted Brian Brown to see if he was still making razors. Apparently, he has a lot of family things that have take a priority, so he is taking a break for a while. Hopefully he will be back. I like his bellied hollow grinds, but Victor (Bluesman) produces an edge that is similar. I do like Ralf Aust razors, but his is the traditional hollow grind produced on a German two-wheel grinder.

Hey Ray.. Thank you for the info on Brian Browns status.
Appreciate that.. l think we had a little back and forth communication about Victor"s razors... He does fantastic work that is for sure and I'll come back and have him make .me one a little bigger and heavier+ have the blade done in the way yours is.. it's just not this time but I will before not too long... And you are right about Ralf Aust's in regards to being hollow ground... I am looking more towards a wedge..Only have one wedge in my rotation and would like to add another.. I will keep searching along and something will come up..

Brian Brown is one of the best grinders out there, I have a custom and a semi custom from him, geometry is spot on. Not sure if he forges or not much but stock removal he’s one of the best. He’s a home boy just east of me and I need to ride over one day soon, ( Jack Daniels is on the way). But if you get one you should like it

Hey guys.. Thanks for your reviews and opinions on these.. I received a couple PM's from members as well and Brian Brown Razor Co I'm pleased to announce got a very favorable score...It appears I have a very limited option on getting one at the moment I am going back to his website now.. I normally dont post any pics of my razors on the forum I will certainly show his razor on here if I find one..

Not sure if this is in the same league but I own a Portland Razor Company straight. Mine is a semi wedge with beautiful wood scales. They make customs also, you might check them out. Had a very nice shave with it this morning.
