Just interested in hearing peoples grind preferences and why.
Which: Near-wedge, quarter-hollow, half-hollow (in that order).
Why: These are "stiff" grinds, with no blade flexing (real or imagined), and I feel more confident when shaving with them.
I'm not a fan of full hollows, don't like the audio feedback with those blades, give me a well-honed half or quarter hollow smooth and silent my preference.
Near wedge, wedge and Frameback grinds. Stiffer blades and silent shave. Like the feel in my hand with wedges and near wedges. Frameback grinds are a thin blade with no flexing.
Not too fussy about what grind the blade is. Somehow most of my blades are full hollow/bellied hollow but any of the other grinds work just as well.
Bob
Wedge to half hollow is probably my favorite. But I shave with all grinds.
Every shave is with a different razor.
Like Bob I'm not too fussed and enjoy using any grid. However push comes to shove I'd say full hollow, preferably Japanese like Iwasaki or Tanifuji. I'm quite partial to an extra full bellied hollow too like my Globusmen or Filli.
I own and shave with all grinds, from wedge to thin bellied hollow.
I'm with most others. Wedge to half hollow are easily my favorites.
Love the quiet smoothness.

I seem to have more Full hollow blades but I tend to like a half hollow a bit more. It has the girth to push thru without needing to be extremely sharp. I find I can get a more comfortable shave at half hollow. The Near wedge is still a good shaver, I just need to watch out for the extra weight.
Half hollow is the sweet spot for me. I do not particularly like them if the get too hollow. I’ve had a couple of 14’s that were too hollow. The shave is good but they are too noisy. This months razor is a Bengall that is fairly hollow and very quiet, I like that.
Put me in the near wedge then quarter then half camp. I like the heft, the weight behind the stroke, the silence, and feeling like I'm shaving with a knife. Add to it that I prefer the older razors that kind of puts you in those heavy grinds.
I like my big'uns, as in heavy, curvy old Sheffield near-wedges. But if I could only have one grind, my sweet spot seems to be quarter hollow, 6 or 7/8" shoulder-less grinds, or rattler grinds, preferably hump-backs just cuz they look cool (so Ern Ators and big humpback Freddies). Though I've managed to coax some great edges and shaves from a few full-hollows, others seem to leave me raw, but that's probably just me.
It depends on my shaving frequency: if I need to remove a couple of days' growth I prefer to do it with 1/4 or heavier grind, but if I need to shave daily then I really like super flexible large sized extra hollows.
#MeToo... the first part, that is -- I've dropped to weekly (or bi-weekly) shaving, and Dima's preference is mine (along with 6/8" blade height); where we differ is that if/when I need to shave more "regularly", I stay with a near-wedge grind and drop down to a lighter-weight 9/16" blade (Union Cutlery, among others).
i like hollows and the lightness off them i have never been able to get on with anything more they just don't feel comfortable on my face and i can never seem to get a decent shave maybe my technique
