Joseph Roberts (who counts as a recognizable name for razor makers from the period), who worked out of Garden Street Sheffield when he was listed in Gales & Martin’s 1787 directory.
Good on you Jamie. :chapeau
I dont ever click on links to pages unless I know a little something about the OP.
Thank you :-) so you think how, old could be this one? Regards,
Found this:
JOSEPH RODGERS (ROGERS) & SONS
Norfolk St., Sheffield
Appointed cutlers to His Majesty King George IV in 1821; chosen as one of 5 firms to make cutlery specimens for presentation to the Duke of York in 1826 ("Old Sheffield Razors" by Lummus. Antiques, December 1922 p.261-267)
1682 - at least 1991
Not to be contrary Roy but that is Roberts not Rodgers. Easy to mix up. I'm still looking myself. Not as much to find on Roberts.
Sorry no help here, but I'd say its from the early 1800s
Okay..) thank you all
