Out of the blue a freind gave me this Clauss razor the other day.
Wonderfull and needs a little work and honing but what is most interesting to me is the scales.
Does anyone know who made and or marketed these?

I've seen a number or razors with aluminum scales over the years. At one time aluminum was worth way more than gold until the "Hall Process" was invented in the 1880s as I recall.
I don't think there was any one maker of them. Depending on how they are made they are light but can be cast and heavy too. They do tend to tarnish unless they are anodized.
As far as I know Clauss didn't make these. But maybe they did. The pinning is with old school washers.
I was wondering if Simmons or some old school hardware store sold them as replacments???
I think those types of scales were probably made for kit's, wedding gifts, or as a customization at purchase. Hence all the different ways they made/molded plastic scales.
Its nice to have a choice. Ooooh,!! I want that one ! Like its gonna make it shave any better than the same blade in a set of black bakelite. Like walkin into the tackle shop, Tim. :beer1: Their still cool, though.
Like When you walk into the tackle shop. The latest and greatest lure may not catch any more fish but they catch the fisherman. :rofl2:
There is a definate area on each side for engraving your initals etc.
Was there a Target or Walmart or equivelent in the day that sold them?
Probably Sears or Montgomery Ward was the closest thing and they weren't discounters but they sold just about everything like Amazon today.Quote:
