Help identifying a Wostenholm

Picked up this Wostenholm today at the flea market for $10. It’s a 6/8 half hollow blade, stub tail. I bought it for the fancy scales thinking it had a naked woman on. On closer inspection it’s actually a man smoking a pipe with ‘The Woodman’ written underneath! Must remember glasses next time 🤓. On close examination the scales appear to be carved horn and both are initialed ‘JB’ in the bottom corner. No markings on the tang other than simply ‘Wostenholm’. Any experts on this maker seen one like this before and can help with estimate of age?

The scales were pressed. I would say it's way early 1800's.

Yeah, from the look probably 1810s-1820s. It has straight scales, a slight heel, stubtail but not extremely stubbed. That brings it into the 19th century but not far. There's a thread here somewhwere about judging age by style of these features.
Outstanding condition for one that age. Excellent find! Is there an initial in front of Wostenholm or an "e" at the end? It could be J. Wostenholm as well as Geo. There were other Wostenholm/Wostenholme cutlers as well.

What an absolute beauty !!! I LOVE it.
I concur with 1810-1820, but more on the 1820 side. That's the period for pressed horn and also that shape for the tang. It's all but disappeared by 1830.

Could you provide a picture of the grind ? Because judging by the picture I'd say it's been reground in the early 1900s

This one reminds of an old Marsden I have as to time period. Some good info on the pressed scales here.

I suspect you are right…looks like it started life as a wedge and is no half hollow….
