Was hoping anyone had any info on Antique Chas. A Smith Philadelphia straight razor made Germany? I have not seen this brand of razor. Wondering who original manufacturer was.

As always pictures would/might help. If it's a contract made in Germany a good bet is Ern. They did a hugr ammount of contract grinding. Also Boker is a possibility. Often their tree will be on it somewhere if it was Boker.
Post some pics. A looksee will sometimes give it away or at least give hints.

Well you said Germany but that looks very Sheffield. That is not surprising though as at a period of time when they were up and coming as a razor making region German makers tried to mimick the Sheffield style. American makers did too. I have an old Torrey you would swear was a Sheffield by the style.
I have not found anything yet except that Charles A. Smith was a barber's supply company. It doesn't give information you're looking for but here's a listing with a very interesying picture of their factory which says 1870-1880 but looks to me early in the mid 19th century.
