L.H. Mack = Mack the Knife

I just shaved again with this little razor again this morning......
I got this as part of a lot of 22 razors off e-bay which scored me 12 really nice blades and 8 others that were virtually unknowns(2 had chipped blades) this was one of the unknowns...
It is by far one of the smoothest shaving razors I own, it is a small 2.75 inch blade and a 4/8 width, spike point. On the show side it says "L.H. Mack Columbus O." on the reverse it says "Standard" and "Made in Germany" This razor puts everything else in the stable to shame, with how precise, and easily it shaves. and there are some nice stable mates that it competes with (DD'S, Dovo's, Filarmonica's, Boker's, Bengall's etc) I have never found any reference to this brand in any of the manufacturers listings I was wondering if anyone else has seen one of these????
And yes I can't help but hum the old tune "Mack the Knife" while I'm shaving with this little wonder....:D

Rescaled and looking sweet

I rescaled the little "Mac the Knife" with some Candy Cane celluloids.... With a new brass wedge and new brass pins....
Since first posting about this razor back in Oct it has moved totally to the top of the entire stable of razors.....
No other razor gives as close and as smooth a shave as this unknown!!!
I have never seen another with the name and I am still interested in any info that anyone might have on this brand....

Never heard of them, but I do work for MACK trucks... so if you ever wanna part with it, I'd buy it on name alone!

But that is one razor that is not for sale at any price...
The Mystical Mac the Knife is my best shaving razor, a true one pass and done, smooth as a baby's bottom wonder hehehe.....

well with such high recommendation I will have to seek one out. Surely it was not a one-off.
Now, since you obviously have no use for the rest of your collection, I assume you are willing to give it away? :D

:roflmao :roflmao :roflmao Weeeeeeelllllllllllll not quite... Let me know if ya find another though, I have just never seen one... I am beginning to think that L.H.Mack was maybe a hardware store or an outlet for these razors....

The closed I've seen were a razor on ebay stamped Mack RA Whitmore Germany

You know Gugi, I've said this more than once, it could just be that this razor happens to fit my face just right!!! I don't know,,,,, the steel doesn't even look that great,,,, I can see grind marks in it, so obviously it wasn't that special that it was polished to a high degree... I would just like to find one more, just so I could at least compare them. Or maybe find out something about the history of the brand... It is the reverse side that is stamped Standard and Made in Germany... BTW this is a really plain jane razor too, it had plain black Bakelite scales and has no jimps or line engraving or other decoration at all...

Oh well someday I'll find another one.... OOOOooooo a 11/16 would just make life perfect LOL

And thanks to you Bjorn, and a quick link from my "Boker Brother" Doc it is now on it's way to me...... I doubt there are the same razors, but I have to see :D Plus it's not a bad looking razor for $22 shipped I'll take a risk on that one.......
