I have one of these and they are indeed very nice shavers.
The steel has a much harder feel than the older TI's.

Replying after Lynn here, so feeling very honoured :bow
I'm considering getting this razor as well. I only have one other TI and that's the SRP LE one. My other two razors are a Puma and a custom Robeson Shuredge. All are very good razors otherwise I wouldn't have them. One thing I've noticed though is that against my tough whiskers (and I mean tough), the SRP LE seems to get dull faster than the others. When it's at it's sharpest, it's a very clean and smooth shave thpough.
I was wondering if anyone can advise how the Silverwing compares to it? I love the feel and weight of my current TI and for balance I would say it's the best. I guess a review wouldn't be a bad idea either... any offers?
I have the SRP LE and the Silver Wing and the SRP LE is pretty much like most other older TIs or most other razors for that matter. I think the blanks they used for the LE are a little lighter than for their top of the line razors.
The Silver Wing is a very different beast. I think Lynn's description is dead on. Its a hard feeling razor totally unlike any other razor I have and I have about 100 of all types. Its a great shaver but personally I'm not crazy about the feel. But that's just me. I know many love it. Its also a bear to hone if you get one not shave ready.
Perhaps one of the other 'carbonsong' models would have less of the described 'hard feeling'?
I have one of the lower end models of the new steel and I think it is great.
The Silverwing is suppsedly hardened to 65 and the others are around 62 to 63. Those few points make make a huge difference in the feel of the razors.
My impressions thus far. (BTW I didn't like the feel of the old 'historical' steel.)
From my (rather limited) honing knowledge of TI's the 'wing feels very hard but gods what an edge if you have patience! The historicals hone a little easier and the 7/8 are very good indeed, a good smooth shave. I will be getting more original 'wings in soon plus the newer french nose variety. Yum!
I need it like I need another hole in my head but I want one of the new 'french nose' silverwings. That dreadnought point spartacus I got from you is great.
Anyone know what grind the Silverwing is?
Very nice razor. I have wanted one of these for a long time.
