11/16 hollow ground Otto Busch weltmeister with black plastic scales.
It's the only razor I bought new, and of all the razors I honed, this was the most difficult to get truly shaveready. Still have it.

My first was about thirty five years ago as near as I can figure. Wasn't a real one. Was a Magic razor that uses half of a double edge blade. After using it a few times I was hooked and shaved with it mostly for about ten years. Then I switched off an on to an electric when in a hurry or a throw away. Then I found this place. I was telling my barber about it and he told me if I would make a carving knife out of a broken one he had, he would give me one that needed a new handle and show me how to sharpen it. I read up on sharpening how to here and watched what he showed me and have been shaving with one since. It is a G.T. Bingham and it is the bottom one in this pic. I LOVE THIS PLACE !!!! Mack
Gentlemen,
My first straight razor was the Dovo classic 5/8" with plastic scales. I bought it from Classic Shaving. It was honed by Lynn. It was a good razor.
A week before the purchase, I used a Feather AC borrowed from a friend. Since I had wanted to shave with a straight razor for many years, I decided to take the final plunge.
Here I am, with my own Feather AC and a modest collection of some 15 straight razors. I wish I had started straight razor shaving at least 45 years ago. Yet it is better than never.
Regards,
Obie
My first was a Dovo "Best Quality" that I got used off of Ebay for $10. I have never really had a good shave from that one. It always seems to pull. I'm getting some stones, and I'm going to learn how to get the edge up to snuff on a Gold Dollar, then try my best on the Dovo.
My first razor that really worked was a Wade and Butcher 5/8 that I got at a flea market for $6.00. I have a carborundum 101a hone that brought the edge back without any work, and it's the razor that got me hooked. I would say this is my real first razor, even though I got the Dovo ahead of it.
Voila, my first razor.
A keen Kutter made in Germany by Simmons Hardware co. with horn scales.
Came shave ready.
love it
