Mint Rudolf Schmidt Bambola Diamant Straight Razor
I bought this mint Rudolf Schmidt about ten years ago as new old stock, and it has become one of my favorite blades. Its 6/8+ size gives it great flexibility that makes for a close, comfortable shave. It really holds an edge well too. I've had about 100 shaves with it and I've only honed it twice.
The blade is an impressive 13/16 round point with "Bambola Diamant" etched on the front. "Rudolf Schmidt, Solingen Germany is stamped on the front of the shank, and "95 (trademark)" on the back. The trademark is pretty odd; it looks like Ronald MacDonald standing in a barrel. The shank has jimps along its entire length on both top and bottom.
The yellowish cream colored celluloid scales still have their original factory gloss and show no signs of damage or warping and the pins are original. The Bambola man is inletted in nickle silver on the front scale. The blade does not wobble at the hinge pin and it opens and closes with moderate resistance.
Included in this auction is the original cardboard case which appears brand new and undamaged.
