I think I have a new favorite
You know something guys, the "American Steel" post got me to thinking and I've come to a conclusion. I think I like my Gencos better than any thing else.
See for over a year now I've been searching, in vain, for another Dubl Duck to take the place of the one that was my great grandfather's. There is nothing wrong with it and it is a great shaver in great condition, but because it is an heirloom, I want to keep it that way.
However, I think the price they command is just flat out ridiculous. I'm sorry I refuse to pay more than 30 bucks for any model DD. So as of now unless I happen across one in an antique store or flea market, etc. I ain't gonna worry about it.
In the meantime, of my top four razors, three are American made. Two Gencos and one Union Razor Cutlery Company (a.k.a. Dixie Cutlery Co.). They shave every bit as good as Pap's Goldedge and I paid less than $20 for all three put together. In fact I'm so impressed with the Gencos and see them so often, I'd gladly snap one up again. I think the Gencos are my new favorites. I wish I had the money to spend on some of these but I just don't. Lets face it you could have 10 Gold Seals at the price of one Goldedge.
Oh well, I've vented and feel better now.
Later,
Chris
