Thanked: 4Info with new TI
In the leaflet that came with my new TI, they recommend that you 'only strop the new razor after several shaves'....
Should I use it a few times before stropping, or strop after the first shave?
I look forward to your comments.
Ta!

As per every razor under the Sun, I strop them pre-shave and post shave.
I give all my razors a strop in the region of 15/25 (linen/leather) laps pre shave. Post shave, I give them 10/15.
The post shave stropping is mainly just to reset and dry the edge.

Thanked: 28In my limited experience with T.I. (one), the "no stropping for several shaves" rule (which I followed) is complete nonsense. Not only that, but the supposedly "shave ready" T.I. never shaved really well until I honed it, after which it was fine. Incidentally, the factory honing appeared to have been done with the back lifted and I had to establish the correct bevel before getting a good edge.

Don't know about TI, but DOVO sets bevels on a disc grinder with the spines lifted so that they don't mess up the spine.
They do only minimal hand honing after that and call it shaveready.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 4Someone should contact T.I. and ask them about their instructions.
I can't imagine not stropping before a shave personally but I'm open to listening to their reasoning.

Thanked: 586I just called Theirs-Issard in France. I asked a man named Michelle why they recommend not stropping a new razor. He started laughing hysterically and said,
"Nous vous disons les Américains stupides de ne pas estroper votre rasoir parce que nous voulons vous voir déchirer les favoris de votre visage"

I followed the instructions that came with my TI and it shaved just fine right out of the box, no stropping or honing.
PS. I bought the razor at the local Art of Shaving store. The razor has their logo etched on the blade. Perhaps they condition the blades before selling them.
