BTW, These are my personal Razors

I am posting some pictures of some razors I think may be of interest. I am curious to know anything about these blades. They are in varying conditions and I'm sure there are things about them that I am missing.

Specifically, I am curious about: 1)quality of blade 2)potential for restoration 3)value

I understand that it may be very difficult to assess these razors by looking at pictures. I'm only looking for ballpark thoughts.

I will post a new thread for each of the razors. There's only 4 or 5.

I have no attachment or investment of any kind to these razors, so please feel free to "call crap, crap"

ERN razors are GREAT! i like the older models like this one. Ern is best known for their crown and sword razors... which are very good. definitely worth cleaning up. polished and honed you could probably expect $50 in b/s/t search for them there and get a better idea.


those little nicks in the edge will easily hone out; Wald is a "borough" of solingen.

ERN makes a great razor but I would pass on that one if I saw it at the swap meet unless I could get it for $8 or less. The reason for this is because it has relatively significant and uneven hone wear. The scales are also pretty ugly in the pictures towards the pin.

Unless I'm seeing things incorrectly, the tip of the scale at the pivot pin is completely broken off and missing rendering the scales useless and IMO worthless. It's hard to judge value since value is subjective. Given that I have too many razors to restore as it is, again using my litmus test (and it looks like David has a similar one referring to what he would do if he saw a similar razor at a swap meet). This blade would have to be rescaled and repinned obviously. In its current state, I would pay $5 or less. If it was $3 at an antique store, I'd think it was a decent buy for a restoration project.

I really appreciate everyone's advice so far. It looks like I have a few razors that I can use to practice some restoration. I certainly don't plan on selling them, I just wanted to make sure that none of them were worth sending to someone more experienced to be restored rather than using them to learn from.
