I never have, but I hear it mentioned all the time, and have never heard a bad word said about them!
I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago & posted a review of it in the razor review section . Its been the best Dovo ive owned so far & the shaves just keep getting better .Paul
I have used one in my rotation for some time. While it is a little over-the-top with the gold wash and all, it is a very fine shaver. And I'm more a 6/8ths quarter hollow guy than a 5/8th hollow ground fan.
I bought one two Easters ago - it is a fine razor, and looks good IMO, although I agree that you probably should be a goldwash fan to fully appreciate its aesthetics.
Two points to note that I have discovered (the hard way...:() -
1. The plastic/rubber/whatever shank sleeve can be a moisture magnet and can work loose over time and/or use;
2. Keeping moisture off it is very important, as if it rusts under the goldwash you really have no other choice but to remove the goldwash to get rid of the rust. If you are a fan of the overall look of the BL, this can be disheartening.
James.
So why not remove the sleeve?
I've had one a few years now and its a fine shaver and a real looker too. I find the rubber sleeve to be very loose so drying isn't a problem unlike a Puma I have where the sleeve is fairly tight and I have fears what is going on under it.
Hawkeye,
Have you shaved with the 6/8 Bismarck and if so how would it compare to the BL?
Both are good shavers, I've honed several bismarks, and owned a BL, I must say the looks of the BL are stunning in person, it is in my opinion one of the best looking razors out there. And it was a very smooth shaver, just too small for me.
