hey guys on used razors I see sometimes that the cutting edge is not perfectly straight, has a slight curve to it, usually towards the end of the razor. is this just from use? will they still sharpen and work well or avoid them? thanks all.

Some are from use and some are made that way. I have one that sharpens and shaves just fine :)
When looking at the blade, spine up, if it looks like a smile ( ie more wear on the heal and toe areas ) your good to go. If it looks like a frown ( more wear in the center ) it will require some work.
Points on razors have the habit of nicking you when you least expect it.
Some razors seem to retain this point. Some razors seem to curve out at the end just with normal honing.
In many articles I have read the advice is always to hone out the point or to run the point along the side of the hone to blunt it.
This said a collector rather than a user may take a different view.
It sounds as if yer trying to describe uneven toe wear on vintage razors, it is quite common, unless it is extreme the razors can still be perfectly shaveable they just don't look as nice....
My personal theory is that they were touched up on a small hand held barbers hone often, with a lifted swoopping motion at the end up the stroke, resulting in the worn toe.....:cry:
