I am looking to buy my first straight razor. Have used them before but have received them from relatives and friends. Have looked at Dovo, Thiers Issard, and The Art of Shaving razors. What should I buy for my first?

I coudln't agree more! Especially, Lynn's DVD-it is absolutely a MUST HAVE.
Yeah lynn shows off some really nice razors in the video. He also shows alot that are very nice yet affordable for a first time buyer.
Have you looked through the classifieds? You can find a very nice selection of shave ready blades. Pick up one or two of those to get an idea of what you like and need. That can be done relatively inexpensively rather than sinking some significant funds into a new razor only to find it isn't what you really wanted or needed.
does anyone know where to get the razors that lynn shows in his DVD? The one I really want was a 6/8ths looked like probably a half hollow but with real thick steel at the spine and real nice dark strong looking steel on the blade. The scales were grey and patterned kind of like an alligator skin if you can picture that. I really want a razor like that. It is the very first razor that he has in his hand when he is introducing himself.
You should PM him...
Does Edwin Jagger still have the deal on the Le Grelot 3/4 hollow? For about a 100 bucks, that should be a very good deal on a fine blade.
Be happy - get a Wapi! :y
