My first Razor
I have been looking into this for sometime now, and when a Dovo razor came up at the auction today and sold with a bunch of pocket knifes I went for it. It was in a J.A. Henckles case and I paid $30 for the razor and 4 other pocket knifes (all pretty much crap) It looked like every knife was sharpened on a grind stone.... all over the place, and not just on the edge.
I have read good comments and a few negatives on dovo blades but am unsure where this one would stand on a good starter. It seems realllly sharp as it is. And I belive it is a 6/8 blade size ? I measured with a tape from the back of the blade to the cutting edge. And I cannot tell if it has ever been used.
I don't have much to compare to, other then this is my first and now I need to collect everything else :D

1. It's been used little or not at all.
2. At $30 you stole that thing!

a nice vintage fritz brach Dovo that looks like that.... for 30$ was way better than a steal... you should donate a $100 to the poor for taking advantage of the auction!
that razor was made in the 1950-60 era IIRC, and Dovo back then were generally vary good... send it ti somebody for the first honing though!

Oh, thanks. I did not realized it was vintage. I thought it was a new dovo based on its condition. I looked around for more info on Fritz Bracht and found out he took over dovo pre WWII. This might be a little too nice for a starting razor, ill keep an eye out for more.

Nice job, you really killed :medvl:. I love my FB Dovo. Send that one out to a pro for honing, and get junkier (but not complete crap) to practice honing on. Great score.
