Sandpaper for lapping stones?

Hi there!

I was wondering if using a sandpaper -instead of a stone- in order to lap a honing stone is a proper thing to do.

If so what do you recommend?

Yup, there is a how to which I believe is currently in the Wiki. IIRC, 220 wet/dry on a flat surface (glass/marble/etc) with plenty of water is the way to go.
