My NOS Hess 44 Arrived Today!!
And it is *surprisingly* sharp! Like, *shave ready* sharp! I'm kinda surprised; I thought new razors typically needed a bit of sharpening before being shave ready. I guess things were different in the old days; they took the time to make sure they were really ready to be shaved with before they shipped em off.
Since I have no idea what angle the bevel was set on, how should I go about touching it up should it fail the shaivng test? Should I just do the marker test on my finest hone (Chinese 12k), and see if it's touching the edge? It would be easiest to just start over again with a new set-by-me bevel, but I don't want to wear away any metal unless it's really needed.
It's such a beautiful razor... wow.
