I believe the numbers are often indicators of the sizes, though not necessarily descriptive of the razor size.
Perhaps we could figure it out. Anyone have a Red Injun 101? How big is it? Some for the other X01's...
I think on some razors the numbers are indicative of size maybe in MMs but on others the number may mean a better model or maybe with some it means nothing. There are many other products with numbers for models and in many cases they are of meaning only to the guy who designated them.
Those type numbers are factory model #s for their catalog. Made it easy for a distributor to order them from the factory and the barber from the distributor. Some companies like Filarmonica appear to have a relationship between their blade size and their model #. An example being the # 14 being 7/8 while the 13 is 6/8 and the 12 is 5/8. That is just my speculation though.
