S. R. Droescher
I found a S. R. Droescher today and was wondering if anyone had any information on the particular model. It is called a Black Smith which is marked on one side and S. R. Droescher, Carwood N. J., Made in Germany on the other side. From what I have read they are good razors but I was hoping someone knew something about the Black Smith. The spine and tang also seem to have a bluish finish. I'm just getting into this so forgive me, thanks to any comments.

Here is some info from Uniclectica:
S.R. DROESCHER
Importer at 77-79 Warren Street, New York City; later opened a factory in Cranbury, New Jersey
ca. 1891-1924 (manufacture of razors began ca. 1916)
I have that same razor sitting in the mug on my bathroom counter top. Never saw one that wasn't made in Germany. S.R. Droescher razors are superior shavers.
Good to see a St. Louis guy. I have a ton of family there.
Have fun,
Lynn

Welcome aboard! Try to post some pics or maybe a description (tip, grind, width).
My SRD is a sweet little Karbono Special Steel, 4/8 or 9/16. It has a blued shank and spine too.
It's the smallest razor in my rotation. I've kept it because it gives a really nice, smooth shave ... and because I like the word; "Karbono.":D

Well Lynn if you have any good connections locally here is StL let me know. Its rough finding supplies out here or anything of the sort. Also glad to hear some responses, thanks everyone. A picture should be attached the box is also in perfect condition which I'm not to concerned about anyway. The razor needs nothing more than a polish and clean, which you may kinda see in the picture. I guess the main thing I want to know, whats a good price for it? Any special tips on a light polish, considering the bluish steel? Also this is my first razor so I want to be careful not to make any mistakes. Thanks again guys!

as far as value, we're not an apprisal site. if you're looking to sell it ebay is a good way to find the spot market value.

Not interested in selling, assuming it does well for me. Just was curious if I had been taken i guess, it was an impulsive buy. I'm worried about polishing it. I think I will buy a junk razor and play with cleaning that up first then move onto razors worth the effort. thanks
