Could somebody please tell me what this is???

I saw this while snooping around the antiques this morning. It's got what appears to be a beaver stamped on the shank, no other marking or mft. I researched all afternoon, but nothing. Could this possibly be an early butch beaver? Ideas anyone??? Any help is greatly appreciated - thnx

Asides from that i did pickup a $2 os mug and a $10 extra hallow 5/8 hartford cutlery #20.... I think i'm addicted! I've been in the hobby lil over 2wks and can't wait to shave every morning :)

I am not sure what maker but it definately looks to be some type of shefield for sure. im no expert but im pretty sure. looks like a good shaver whats you get it cleaned up and ready to go.

I know I have a Frederick Reynolds with a mole stamped on it, but it's tail is comprised of a single line.

i'm thinking it might be a good shaver too. might just pick it up because it appears to be real tortoise. the scale has a few wormholes in it though... might be able to resto.

I do not think it is English. The shoulder of the blade where it meets the tang is different. The tail is shorter which suggests that it is older which lends credence to the actual tortoise shell. I am not sure that is a beaver, could be a fox or a cat of some kind.

If it is a beaver aren't they mostly indigenous to the US? which is why I say I do not think it is English.

Lots of hudsons bay Co. stuff is branded with a beaver, maybe its a re-brand or something?
