Differences in Razors?
And here is yet another of my trick questions:p
I wonder what the difference there is between wedges, 1/2 hollow, full hollow and extra hollow (singing) razors. I know what the terms mean but what is their difference in performance, their pros and cons etc.
Also I notice some razors have 2 stabilizing pieces and some one and some are without..why is this and what are the stabilizing pieces there for, or not there?

And is the stabilizing piece a sort of recent invention? does it help to date razors?

For performance, I find that thicker blades require less finesse when shaving whereas the full hollows require a bit more technique to get a great shave. I also find that without the flex, I'm less likely to nick myself.
On the stabilizers, I believe they are to help reduce the flex, but it could just be left over bits that are intentionally not ground out when the blade is hollowed.

Your wedge handles like a pickup, quarter hollows are station wagons, half hollows are sedans, full hollows are economy size and double hollows are sports cars. It's a matter of preference.

Ps. nice analogy Xman..I do prefer a sports car to a pick up:hmmm:
