A Question about Shaving Shop

Okay, I know I said I don't really want to get into collecting. And I know that I said I prefer Ebony over all other handle materials.

But... I just saw a beautiful razor on ShavingShop.com that has simulated abalone handles. And I'm thinking about giving in and getting it.

My question is, how does their honing service stack up? All of my other blades have come from Vintage Blades and were honed by Lynn. I love being able to shave with the razors right off when I get them.


And, okay, I guess I'll go ahead and say it.

I think you'll find yourself very happy with whatever you get from the shavingshop. John has great service and really nice looking razors. His honing is topnotch and you won't have any complaints. This has been my experience anyway with John. He is a memeber here if you need to ask him questions.

I have bought four razors that I can think of off the top of my head ......mabe more........ from John. Among them my Robert Williams mammoth ivory frameback.

Pleased with all of them. He gave me a beautiful brass handled super badger shaving brush as a free for nothing bonus on the last one. One of the most luxurious I have ever dipped in a bowl of cream. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a razor from The Shaving Shop.

I just went back to the shavingshop to look at the razor you speak of, I have that razor(different scales). It is a great shaver along with being a looker. It gives a smooth, close shave and holds an edge quite well. You won't be disappointed if you pull the trigger on it.

I was about to buy a blade at the shaving shop but my wife headed me off at the pass by making a purchase for me elsewhere. My conversations with the propieter were very informative and soft sell. The dude was very patient with all my questions. I am more than a little disapointed I did not make my purchase from him.

This is good to know. Joel at B&B recently slagged off his honing skills, and having never bought a razor from him I didn't know. John is a good helpful guy though, so I don't think you will be disappointed

I am not a member of that forum. I found THAT place before finding this one and I never became a member due to the feeling that place gave me. If John was "trashed" on that forum, it was a personal attack I'm sure having nothing to do with his product or ability to hone. My experience with the shavingshop has been nothing but positive and so have all the other ones I've heard from the people here. Sometimes it's best not to believe all the negative stuff you read unless it's from an unhappy customer , and even then you have to be very careful on "whacking" someones reputation around like that.

at one of our TX meet and greets, John asked for a razor that needed some work to get a shaving edge. i obliged and he helped me get a great edge on a razor i was about to give up on.

he is a standup guy and will give you a wonderful edge if you chose his honing services.
