a little bit of gold, maybe on to accent the engravings fine.
but wtf, did the people at dovo decide to make straight razors catering to rappers?

Vote with your wallet, don't buy the bling bling razors. :)
edit: I'll probably never buy a Wacker because most of them come with gold wash.
no more than $40 for the name brands ;)
Hadn't noticed how much gold was on my Dovo until I got it. Doesn't really bother me but I bet it is a pain in the ass to maintain. Especially if you have to restore one.
Its the all new P-DIDDY DOVO
Its almost impossible actually. Rub the gold with any abrasive and it more or less disappears.
Maintenance is not an issue IMO, it should receive the same amount of care any other razor gets. However...I can't see gold wash lasting forever. Its only a micrometer thick and every time we wipe our razors off I imagine some of the gold goes with it.
I have to agree that I don't like gold on blades. I don't really like anything except etchings. I'm not really sure why, but I prefer a simple elegance in my blades. If you were to open my box of keepers, you'd find a lot of plain Sheffield blades with black horn scales.
it's just cause you homies are poor and can't buy the good stuff. gary (traveller) agrees that once you have ten cubic feet of bullion and a couple of truckloads of dollar bills you automatically switch to framebacks with rhodium plated platinum frames.
of course, 1u of gold plating falls off by stareing at it, that's why the correct way is to have 1mm thick inlay of the pink gold.
engraving (i.e. removing of stuff) is for poor people, the good way is the exact opposit - you layer your bling on top of the other bling.
the way this thread is going next you'll telling me you don't like diamonds that spell yours and your lovers' names on your razors.... pft, even poor scale makers know to put a cheap jewel on their products...
there is a wonderful beauty in simplicity and pure function, gold and so on is not needed for a blade to shine at its best
I'm really not a fan either, they're a bit too in your face for me. I'm no fan of razors with their grind etched on either. I do quite like the old school engravings though - I think they have a bit more about them.
I doubt I will ever buy a gold wash glad dovo - vintage for me.
I love bling bling.. I even have diamonds on my hones...

I thought I was in a minority in not liking gold on blades. Seems not. Having said that, you're making me chuckle, gugi.
I agree my gold belongs in my vault not on my blades. And because have neither vault nor gold I don't want to waste it on flashy bling bling razors
I hate gold on razors. The few I have that have it, as soon as it starts to show the slightest signs of wear I take it all off. Even worse than that is a Dorko I have which has green all over the entire blade. Yuk.
I feel your pain and stand ready to assist. Please feel free to dump all gold chased razors on my door step or into my mail box at any time.
I have to say the bling appeals a bit to me as well. :)
