I'm considering buying this wade&butcher straight. I don't know much about straights yet but I can see this one will need a bit of work which is exactly what I want to do. Anyone have an idea of the max i should be looking to pay for it? Help would be greatly appreciated.

looks like it's been honed unevenly with no tape. I'll leave it to an expert as to whether that will make it hard for you to get an edge you like.
Pins clearly replaced so maybe not original scales?
I wouldn't pay more than $10 but I also would get a nicer one instead (so I really wouldn't pay anything for it). There are big W&Bs in solid shape that need a lot of work to get rid of staining and pitting so that's what i'd go for to be sure it was good after I'd done the work.
First off, welcome to the forums!
Although the razor's seen a lot of honing, there's a lot of metal left and nothing to stop it getting back to full use. I'd probably spend $15 to $20 on it, depending on how rich I was feeling that day. It would probably be a good one to try restoring but as I'm rubbish at honing wedges I'd have to get somebody else to do that bit. If you give it a go, be sure to post pics - good luck!
Welcome to SRP. Too much wear on that one to ring my bell. Take a look at the SRP Wiki here and check out the razor database for photos of various brands. You will have something to compare to.
+1 I got one very similar to that for about 17 bucks (in better shape though). There is a ton of steel on that blade even though there is some heavy hone wear. If you are looking to do some work it should be ok. Yeah I'd go around 15 for it.:shrug:
if you look at the picture closely it has been honed evenly just one side isn't as shiny as other side. I assume this is wedge blade.Price i agree with rest.Not so much life on that blade without taping.
thanks a lot for the input guys, it's greatly appreciated. i purchased a dovo best quality from srd a few days ago, but i also want to pick up one or two older blades so that i can learn with them. i'll look around in the other forums and read up as much as i can.
Though she has been well used, if you restore... (but more importantly, have the patience to hone that near wedge) she would make a really great shaver.
