So, there has been a number of postings about seven day sets. Now I've had the opportunity to keep a set, but I decided to pass it along. I can't confine myself to seven razors of the same exact brand and model. Thats like...nm.
So if given the opportunity, would you take the seven day set over 7 different razors?
I own 1 seven day set and I like having it.OTOH, if I could only own 7 razors I wouldn't want them all to be the same. Variety is the spice of life.
thats a tough one....
assuming that both are of equal materials and value and cutting ability, id want 7 different razors. just because it makes it more hobby-like, a collection.
how cool would a comic book collection be if it was just 50 copies of the same issue.
those seven day kits are quite nice. but unless it was a set of king cutters or something real fancy , i wouldnt want to shave with em everyday
I voted seven different ones because I like shaving with a different blade every day. But, if I could afford it, I would definately pick up a really nice seven day set and throw one into my rotation every now and then. The rest of the time, I'd keep them on display.

I can't see owning seven of the same thing. If that was what I wanted I would just use that one blade seven times and keep a strop handy. Of course with the regularity that I shave seven blades would keep me going for a month probably. Instead I could see myself collecting seven different blades in my travels and calling them a seven day set.
i'd like to get an old 7 day set one day, but i'd definately use others as well.
but if it was one or the other id take different razors.
7 different razors for me although there are 2 boker edelweiss in my rotation they are quite differant as to what it takes to get a good shave out of them , every morning a adventure i dont ever whan this to become the same oh same oh:
I voted seven different razors but that number is too low also. I am the proud owner of a Boker seven day set and shaved though the set as part of my rotation. Mu rotation consists of many, many razors and it will be a while before the set comes up for a shave again and I think I will mix it up with other straights when it does.
I've been shaving with a different straight every day since I started about a year ago. I like the variety. I do shave with the same brands straight through or the same manufacturing location but the style, blade height or grinds do vary. I do this because of I store them in seven day rolls and grouped them that way and I can keep track of the rolls for rotation. A different brand or manufacturing location every day would be find but it would be too much work to keep track of what was used from different rolls or to find a specific razor if the rolls were mixed.
Still needed one more option "No". I don't have 7 razors, and I don't shave on Sundays. A 7-day set is meaningless, so I didn't vote... :D
I think that the same person can give different answers at different times of their life. I had a rotation of 7 really fine razors, including 2 custom Livi regrinds, an NOS Filarmonica, an NOS Friodur, an NOS World Master, etc. I compare my rotation to the time of my life when I wanted to date a lot of different girls. Then the LeGrelot 3/4 to full hollow ground came along and I fell in love. I just didn't want to shave with any other razor. I compare that to falling in love and getting married. At the time I had the idea of purchasing a 7-day set, I had already been using the LeGrelot exclusively for a while. Then I decided to expand the family and that's like having children.
I know it doesn't make any sense, but I like it.
I think that a 7 day set for me would be all different, maybe erring on the side of my preferences, but different all the same.
However, I would love to own a 'proper' 7 day set with engraved spines - just because I think they look fantastic.
I noticed there are a few 4 razor sets on ebay.
I have/had a 7 day set, that I am breakign up and selling off. like many others I'd love to keep the set, but can't afford a lot of razors. rather I'm trying to get a slight variety of ones I really like, that are very nice. and while I do like sometimes using a 5/8" or a hollow grind the larger/heavier blades work out better for me thus far (except for the one 5/8" thistle cut I sold and kick myself over still). so a 7 day set of maybe 7/8 half hollows would be cool.
right now though I'm trying for 7 "keepers". I have three shave ready now. I have a 4th in process with what I thought was my 5th probably lost in shipping. I have a c-mon to get restored, no 6. then a wester de-fi that was a gift, 7. after that I'll lay low for a while before going for a 14 day set. then 21, then 28 and so on. ;-)

7 different razors for me. I can't think of a style I would really want 7 identical razors of.
I own a 7 day set of really cool razors but only have 6 of them as it was missing one when I got it. Came in a really cool box too. The box is probably the best part of owning the set. Like Red, I too am splitting up the set to sell. It was a toss up between scaling 6 razors exactly the same, or splitting them up, each with different scales (maybe an identical set of two though). I just doubted anyone would buy them as a set from me considering the price I'd put on them!
I was real good about limiting myself to just seven, and I've only just realized that I limited myself to seven for about the first year. The other day I officially admitted to myself that I'm going to allow myself to have 14. I hope I can stick with 14 for at least the next year. It's a slippery soap... er slope.Quote:

By limiting your self you force your self to get every up to standard rather than having stacks on the 'to do' pile, that my theory anyway!
For now, I'm going to limit my self to 7 so I can work out what my preferences are, and claw some money back on those I will never use.
