Black Dahlgren Eskilstuna??

I won this razor on the 'bay:

It arrived in the mail yesterday, and aside from a little grime, the blade is in pretty good shape. The scales need to be replaced however.

The blade looks as if there is a black finish on it. The black finish extends the entire lenth of the blade from toe to the end of the tang. The frameback in the spine is shiny and unfinished.

Han anyone ever seen a blade finished this way before?

You can achieve the black finish with nitric acid (fast) or coffee (slow)

when I saw the title of this thread I had to read it.

Black Dahlgren Eskilstuna sounds like a character in an old Roy Rodgers show.
