I just posted this in another thread but for posterity. I have 4.
If anyone has a Double Duck that needs a little TLC they want to get rid of I'd be willing to make it 5. :D

I'm currently at 18 and try to shave with all of them.
I thought of creating a poll like this, but of course, as with so many good topics, it is already here on SRP. So here is this thread coming back for anyone who is new, like me.
Gentlemen:
I have a modest 21 shave-ready straight razors, 15 new and 6 restored. My plan was to stop at 7, one for each day of the week.
Pish! So much for that plan. I think that's all I need — today.
Regards,
Obie
This is like asking a lady her age, so inappropriate because it is too embarrassing. She's too old and I have too many razors!
How many I have?
Not enough!!!:roflmao
I have 7 razors shave ready and one in work restoration. I expect to have more so ask again.
Like Obie, the plan was to get to a week's worth and stop.
Nine is the answer, and a custom pair ordered from Gabor.
My number changed drasticly this last few weeks :p
About 45 vintage and one New, plus an unknown number of cracked/unservicable blades.
I am at 24 that is useable.
From here on, it is all about switching to more preferable grinds and sizes without increasing the total count.
I've developed a taste for customs, and that is what I am now pursuing.
At the moment, I have thirteen straight razors..
I also still have over 20 de razors I don't use anymore..
I got more razors than weeks i have been using them, just lucky at antique shops:)
16 antique store rescues that I will be working on to clean up as best as I can and get them off to be offered in our monthly give aways.
20 serious razors that are may day to day shavers and some strictly for collecting. I am about to thin the herd since I have trying everything but am now focusing on keeping my very favorite rotation shavers. The rest I will be selling off.
Having just joined in Decenber of 2010, I was interested in seeing how this poll might look with new postings.
Thanks.
Edit: I have 25.
Had three, now two. Two which I'm very happy with.
I don't even know the count, but it surely is over 100.
Last count was 26, but I have a couple in transit. Damn you ebay?!
I want to know who put over 1000 and if they were being serious...
I just listed mine out somewhere...
C&S, FWE, and Genco GS are my shavers.
J Wost, and a Sterling are antique store finds.
W&B, Boker, & one in transit round out my razors.
That's 8. I figure I need 7 for me. 7 For my oldest boy. 7 For my youngest boy. And then I might need 7 more if my daughter gets into them...7 again if my wife decides she's not going to be intimidated by them any longer. So I've got room to grow! Of course, I don't have money to grow...but that will change with time.
In all seriousness I'm keeping my eye out for interesting brands/grinds to see what I like to shave with best, then I'll probably thin things out.
Peace,
Lets see... Shave ready are:
Wade & Butcher extra hollow
Keystone
Geneva
Torrey
Crown & Sword
Clover Brand
Wade & Butcher Wedge
And add in my 2 greaves, and packwood wedges that still need work, and 2 no names that won't take an edge... I'm at 12 right now.
I have 28. My Dubl Duck Satin Edge is over at Troggies at the moment. Most, save 1 or 2 are all shavers. Some are new and some are very nearly new. Then I have a Ramapo Co. razor made around 1864 that gives a great shave. The least liked is my J.A. Henckels 3/8 razor, the 6/8 DOVO that like to nip my ear lobe. The others I really like very well. I would like to sell off my Frictionite 00 sometime and get a Wacker. I like the round point the best and square/spike point the least. I just wish I could find the Wacker in 5/8 round point. Most of the time it's a Spanish point. A stainless steel HESS would be a nice addition too, someday. I missed one on eBay a while back. There will be more.
James, if you shave with a GOTTA 120 Hamburg Ring, Super Fine, or a Revisor Full Hollow someday you might just stop looking so hard. They give a really nice shave, that's for sure!
If you've got one you'd like to donate I'd be happy to give it a good home! (Bid on a Hamburg Ring last week on the bay but lost it). I've heard good things about the Revisors too, but I'll need to save up before I can snag any of those...unless of course I could start up a "Razor Shelter" like a pet shelter but for razors!
Personally I love the spike points. They have bitten me a couple times, but they work great trimming around the side burns. Haven't shaved with a round point yet though. Only have one, and it has no scales...in good time.
Here you go, Jim, look at the web site link: 5/8 Extra Hollow Ground Revisor is 68.00 euros and since we are not in Germany, he takes off 15 euros discounted for not paying VAT. The GOTTTA was close to that price as well.
Don't do that to me! I'm already running the ragged edge with my additions...SWMBO would have me sleeping in my truck if I picked that up!...unless, that is you're wanting to make a donation to the Big Jim Shaving Foundation. :D
Seriously though, that's gorgeous. I love the blue scales on that one. And I've been on that site several times. Maybe down the road I'll pick one up...like after the house sells.
Jim, I've bought a number of razors on eBay, some pretty nice, but they generally run in the price of 17.00 to 25.00 avg when you factor in the cost of shipping. Obviously, one is delighted when you get a nice bid on one that exceptionally low priced, but those are harder to find. If you factor in that a used razor costing 23.00 avg and take that times 3, then you have $69.00 Using that logic, you can nearly justify buying one razor of new exceptional quality in that same price range instead of the 3 "possibles" from eBay.
There's a story of a merchant that was seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had (assuming pearls) and bought it. Mat. 13:45-46 So you might use that as an illustration, that it is better to get one razor of great value than a handful of nice razors of good value.
Vern's rule # 1. Always have one razor of great value.
I have 3 straights that I use. A blank Jaguar 6/8, a 5/8 Wapi, and a 9/16 Genco Pyramid #7. All great shavers but I love getting to my Wapi in the rotation because it just glides through my beard it is a great shaver and the one that has cost me the most blood loss.
I have one razor and i think im only ever gonna get one more just to have incase i would nick mine or somethign dumb like that.
I don't own razors.......they own me!:p
I am the keeper of the blade.
Only two. :(
My lowly VA state employee income doesn't allow much (any) disposable income, but I have two great shavers, a Norton 4000/8000, a great strop set (felt and leather) - a couple of nice brushes, my Dad's and a new boar... and a coffee cup to whip up that William's lather... lol!
I consider myself lucky and it just proves that even the the poor can enjoy a good shave.
;)
For now I have for straight razors and one Iwasaki Kamisori
35 pampered and nitpicked shavers, 5 or so in a pile. I use them in groups like old, new, etc.
My least favorite group is the Wayhayexpensivefancypantsheap. Those four cost more than all
the others combined, and aren't much better than most restored Ebays.
Actually, I look a them like pieces of jewelry, individual, unique, and... "Paid fer!"
After 43 years of collecting, I have about 150 razors, 90% of which are quite useable.
I currently have 6 but will stop at 7.
