Big Greaves (For Hoglahoo and Garry)
I was talking about some blades on the chat, and pics were requested.
The "small one" is a 15/16 wedge in beautiful black horn scales. As far as I can tell, that's just staining, not pitting.
The super huge one is about 17/16, and also wedge ground. There is a really faint etching; some lettering that I can't make out. There is some staining and pitting. Not sure what went on with the repinning, but as is the blade is real loose. I'd like to have her fixed at some point; I think the top (by the pivot) needs to be cut off. It seems like removing the upper "pin" and repinning through the current hole would do the trick. Something also needs to be done about the wedge, because this blade is really really scale heavy. Not sure if it's the wedges or the massive bone scales (check the comparison shot), but I want to keep these scales as is (maybe clean them up a little).
Anyway, on with the pics, huh?
(Not sure if I can ask this here, but if you think you can do the work mentioned on the bone scales and restore the blade in bone scales, I'd trade the one in black horn for the services; drop me a PM)
