Peter Parker micarta
Hello everyone,
Yesterday I finished my micarta scales and I wanted to show them off. I decided to go with red and black because I thought it would give nice look to it. Halfway during sanding I discovered that if Peter Parker would use a straight razor this one might be it. The second scales that I made had a big gap between the razor and the spacer. So this time I wanted a tight fit. After filing away 0.5 mm every time a got to a point where the razor didn’t touch it even if I pushed it a bit towards the spacer. After pinning and polishing this is the result.
Some specs on the razor:
Blade: 6/8 Wilhelm Mandt sollingen germany
The leftover from the etching says “our best” and has a crown in the middle.
And the blade is made from silversteel.
So what do you guys think of it and what could I do better next time?

It looks fantastic! Good job...! Thanks very much for posting the pictures up!
How does it shave? Did you find the micarta difficult to make or work with?

Beautiful work, red and black is a classic combination

The tricky part with micarta is trying to make the scales symmetrical. Making micarta is a bit of work but I always try to make plates large enough for 4 sets of scales because making a plate of 20x5 cm is almost a much work as making a plate of 20x15 cm. I think it is worth the work and it isn’t that hard to do, this is only the 4th time I made scales for a razor so I still lack a lot of experience. I don't know how it shaves because I still have to sharpen the blade but most of these old sollingen blades shave very well.
