Recently bought a nice looking one from ebay but havent honed it yet. In general terms how do find them as shavers?
I own two FR razors, and I would agree that they are excellent shavers. The only bad thing about them is that they are made from a very hard steel, so they take more time to hone.
On the flip side, that also means they don't have to be honed as often.
Another thumbs up, FRs are my favorites as to shaving quality.
I hope they are great. I'm slowly honing one myself. I agree about the hard steel. Today I spent just over an hour on bevel setting and it still needs a bit more.
OLD_SCHOOL speaks the truth. Just about any Sheffield-made razor is a reference for a good razor. And Reynolds are comfortably in the top tier of the Sheffield razors. Unless it has been abused or neglected beyond salvaging, it will be a gem.Quote:

They are indeed great shavers. I do not think all are made from the really hard steel, though I have had a bunch that are/were a pain to hone. Personally, I've promised myself never to buy another one because I've had a few that were such a PITA to hone that I've been turned off. Well... I might buy a full hollow if I saw one...
