My weekend at the antique stores in Madrid

Hello friends. Yesterday I took a walk around the traditional Rastro market in Madrid. For those who don't know, it's a huge area (20 streets and 6 squares) in the city where you can find almost anything you can imagine. One of the streets is dedicated only to antique stores, so I went there asking for straight razors. After seeing a lot of rusty crap, I found these two razors at a reasonable price:

The first one is a Hugo Rader, Solingen. I think the box is not original, but it's really old. I'm not an expert, but I think it's really clean, though is quite dull and the pins are a bit loose.

The second one is a Medallón Taurino by Jose Monserrat Pou. As you can see in the pictures has a lot of stains and the edge is slightly damaged, but it stills cuts hairs! I managed to pass the HHT in some areas.

I would like to hear your opinion, because I'm still a newbie in Straight Razors. Is it possible to bring them back to life? Because I don't want wall-hangers, i would like to add them to my rotation. If you need more pictures or explanations please ask me. Thanks in advance amigos!

Nice razors! If I were you I'd get rid of that surface rust pronto then get them honed up for your rotation.

I have started with way worse than those two. I think even the rustier of the two will clean up fine. Good catch!!!

Yes, they are pretty clean, especially the Hugo Rader. As they were cheap (12€ each) I think I could send them to one of the members in the classifieds for a restoration-honing. I am still learning to strop, so it's not a good idea trying to do it by myself...:) Do you think it's worth it?

For shaving, just a bit of MAAS and a good rub by hand should work for both of them I suspect. The scales look pretty good and should clean up easily. So a little cleaning and a honing should get them both ready to go! If you want them really pretty it may take a little more work to smooth any pitting and to smooth out the scales but that should not be a major effort. Great find!

Bien hecho, compañero!!! I was told recently that in a "cuchilleria" in Atocha street they have new TI Special Coiffeur 1937 for about 95€....
