Try a C-MON Cadillac. Pretty good bang for your buck when it is honed properly.

From the threads I've seen the newer versions are in a different ballpark than the old ones.
Great,
I just bought one.
So are the new knockoffs actual counterfeit, with a fraudulent stamp on the blade, or is it pretty easy to tell if it's a fake?
mine says "peter j michels, brooklyn ny, made in germany"
It looked vintage (old), but I haven't sharpened and shaved with it yet.
I was always partial to the Ellicotville NY Blackies. By far the greatest shaves. Blade ground so thin you'd hear it poping from all the flexing.Who has that blade now I wonder..... Hmmmmmmm
