Hi !
I just got this straight, it's a Carl Schaaf Solingen #401 Veni Vidi Vici edition I found.
Any thoughts on that? It's the first time I hear that name. I guess is pretty old straight
Thanks!

Well she sure is a looker... I would be surprised if it's a really old straight though. The really old blades don't have that kind of etching and they usually have heavier grinds and rather stout tangs. I think it looks really nice though! Good find
I'm not a student of Latin but I think that translates to Julius Caesar's," I came, I saw, I conquered." Looks like a really nice razor. Most of the old Solingens are IME.
That is one great looking razor. You should enjoy that one for many years to come.
very nice blade. excellent find
Thanks for your input guys. Do you know Carl Schaaf at all? I couldn't find anything on the internet about it. I love the look of the razor, but i have to hone it. Hopefully my practice is good enought to make it shave ready :)
Nice looking Razor. Sorry but I don't know anything about the brand. We do need to know how well it shaves when you find out.
Nice snag on the razor,Veni,Vidi,Vici,("I came, I saw, I conquered") is an excellent motto! :)
Looks like it's from the '20s or '30s. Here you go:

+1 on sending it out to be honed. That ones is a beauty and if you practice on that one the hone wear could be excessive. A razor as good looking as that one will be a pleasure to shave with every time it comes around in the rotation.

My dear Hammett,
That is a lovely razor. Anything that lovely has to be a good shaver, too, I would say. An excellent find.

Very nice razor you've scored there! I don't know that brand, but generally, anything which says "Solingen" on the tang promises to be a very good blade.
My translation of the etching is:pretty pretti prettie.
