Tobacco and duct tape. You gotta love that bit of modern medicine.
"It ain't broke. It's just short on duct tape!"
Ah yes, the Lorena Bobbitt sharpness test. Be thankful it was your thumb!
It's just a flesh wound! (the Black Knight - Monty Python)
Put a line of CA on it hold it together and your good to go.
Ya after I looked at the pictures I went and cleaned it really good. Some of the dark areas around the edges are where it had already scabbed up so it looked a lot dirtier than it actually was.
And yes I have decided the hanging thumb test---Not such a great test!!
I think I would be supergluing that one, looks nasty!
+1 on the super glue. It will at least seal it up. Oh yeah, The razor look good. Nice to know it's sharp. After that it will probably end up one of your favorites.
The hanging thumb test is one in a series of in-often used sharpness tests. These tests are not recommended for the average straight razor user, but should only be used by the extremely unintelligent. These testes include the edge taste test, where one gently drags the edge across the surface of the tongue, and the Loretta Bobit test, which I don't think needs to be explained.
It is one of my favorites I have had it for a 4 months or so and when I got it it looked bad. I did a whole restoration on in and have loved it ever since. I posted about it some time back in the Gallery under workshop. It was one of those start to finish posts. Lots of before, during and after photos.
Congrats on the honing skills! :tu ;)
