The Berco 14 made in Solingen to the Latin America

Hello gents,

I have a thing for German razors made to Spain or South America, I don't know why, I know, it's silly...:o
So, this one is from the brand "BERCO", I never heard of it. Probably is "BER<something> COmpany". It has the magic number: 14. I also have a thing for straight razors with this number, I know, I know, it's silly too :o :o.
This razor has the longest blade I have - almost 3 1/4 inches and almost 3 inches of cutting edge! The blade size is a nice hefty 7/8 with a faded etching that reads "Navaja Superior" which means "Superior Razor" with some wings around.
The scales are plain plastic black.
I polished it up with MASS and took it to the hones and got a really nice edge.

Nothing silly there, Leon, it's an interesting idea--the Corneta I have has grown every more fascinating since you told me it was a German razor made for the Brazilian market...There are a lot of Brazilian immigrants in Japan, so I wonder if one of them brought it with him?

Anyway, that's a lovely razor...nice and big.

Right, your Corneta (which I fancy a lot) has probably taken that route you described. There is one model which I've after and has the number 14 in it too - the Corneta 6014, a 7/8 blade :rock:

I share your liking for Spanish language stamped Solingen razors. I have a Favorita, a Corneta, a huge Cordilleras, and a beautiful Aguila Gold. All great shavers, too!

Ahhh! Mine is 6016, meaning it was an 8/8? It's been honed down to about 7/8 now due to a chipped heel...

Well, if you have a 7/8 6016, that means that the number is not related to the size because I sold one NOS 6016 which is 5/8 :confused:

Its pretty common to have German Made razors for other markets. I have a German Eye with script but I'm not sure if its Chinese or Japanese but its made for that market.
