    Default Super Gnome question.

I been doing some razor research and have noticed something about Thiers-Issard's Super Gnome that I need some help on. One vender list this razor as having a full hollow blade and another vender list it as having a half hollow blade. Which is it full or half hollow? I would like to try a razor with a grind other then full hollow but it seems that most razors today are made with a full hollow.

    Thanks

When it comes down to it - worrying whether a blade is full hollow or half hollow is kind of like worrying whether a chocolate chip cookie is 5mm thick or 6mm thick. TI makes good razors and if you like the looks of it you will find it to be a good shaver just like that cookie will taste good no matter how thick it is. Chances are it is a full hollow blade since anything but full hollow is rare in a new razor.

Words of wisdom, thank you John. However they still do not answer my question. Is the "Super Gnome" a full hollow or a half hollow?

In my own experience the Super Gnome is a half hollow blade & is a lot stiffer than the hollow grinds that I've tried from Thiers .

Thanks Paul, The fact that I had seen it listed both ways, one from each vendor got me to wondering.

On casual glance a half hollow can look a lot like a full hollow if it's a hamburg grind. I once had a half hollow Friodur that I thought was full hollow until I shaved with it; it's obvious stiffness led me to take a closer look.

I bought a 5/8 Super Gnome from Classic a couple of years ago and it is a half hollow. It was about half the price then too. Stronger dollar back then..... it was worth about twenty seven cents.

I've owned two TI Super Gnome or "Super Gnome Extra" razors both purchased brand new and within the last few years. Both were half hollow grinds. Stiff grind to be sure. I agree with Jimmy. I paid $87 for the first one two years ago. Look at the price now.
