I was in one of my local antique shops today and came across a Genco Old Dutch razor. It LOOKS exactly like the one below, except a near perfect blade and it has a matching box in pretty good condition (this was the only picture I could find of it). They were asking $30. Is that worth it for this particular brand and model razor? Thanks for your input.

Sounds good. It might sell for more or perhaps less on ebay depending on how well the photo displays were prepped.
Having it in-hand means you can check it over to see if the scales are straight and tight. also, check the bevels to see if they are nice and even on both sides. Also, check along the spine for excessive hone ware.
It depends on the condition of the blade, but Genco's are one of those brands of razors that don't get the recognition for being as good of shavers as they are. - IMO, of course.

I love the shave I get from my genco's. $30 for a razor in decent shape sounds good to me. If I stumbled upon it, I would probably buy it.
The blade is in great condition and everything is tight. The scales are about perfect. I had it in my hands, but I didn't have the money. I believe that all it would need is a good honing and it will be shave ready. As soon as I get some extra cash, I think that I am gonna go back and get it. I figure I would at least get a shave ready razor for about $50 (cost of razor and then the honing).
If it "speaks to you" you should get it.Gencos are known as nice blades.

I currently own a Genco Gold Seal 5/8 round point that I picked up on the bay for under $15 including shipping. After a little cleaning, a few passes on the hone and some stropping it gives a real fine shave, one of the best shavers I have. Gencos are like Bengalls, seldom talked about, under estimated which allows you to pick them up at a very reasonable price and shave as good as some of the more popular, highly sought after, higher priced razors.
I have a Genco Old Dutch that I bought from the classifieds here. Superb shaver with attractive faux wood scales and bow tie bolsters. I like it a lot.

I have several Genco razors and they are all great shavers. All of them I have gotten for less than $20.00.:)
