What Did I Buy?
I need to learn more, but

Blade?

What is the thought, real steel or a tin can?
I did a SRP search for Hen & Rooster & know that Bertram & later Klass made Hen & Rooster Razors (Bertram is a grail). Saw some pictures of another brand that had a silver foil hen & rooster label on the blade (made by Dovo). I see no makers name on the blade in the above pictures.
Seller's description was: "This is a nice Hen and Rooster straight razor, Solingen Germany. Some minor wear on the blade (see pictures) but "razor" sharp. Nicely used item."
I would like to know if it is a nice Hen and Rooster, or did that chicken lay an egg:confused:

Hard to say. I've got one of the etched blade examples that was possibly made by Dovo and a vintage piece with Herder stamped on the mark side and the H&R logo stamped on the pile side. AFAIK the 'new' production didn't stamp the logo in the tang but only used an etch so you apparently have a vintage Hen & Rooster there. Any pocket knife or razor I've had with that logo has been a first class item.

The old H&R's were good shavers. There were some made a few years back that were not as good in my opinion, but would still shave OK. The new ones I have seen are really tough to hone and again in my opinion, not worth having.
This looks like a nice razor and hopefully will work out well for you.
