Questions about a couple vintage straights at antique shop...

Hey everyone, so I just stopped by a local Antique shop and to my surprise they had almost 30 straight razors! Really makes me wish I knew a little more about what I was looking at, haha...

Anyways, I found a few razors that looked to be great potentials.

The first is a vintage Boker King Cutter Spike point razor that they are asking 20.00 for.

The other is a W&B "Special" that still have a very nice finish on the blade also stickered at 20.00.

Lastly and the most intriguing one to me is another W&B. There is no indication of what blade it is other but it is very big and very heavy. Can any of you perhaps help identify this razor? Unfortunately I was only able to snap a picture with my phone but hopefully it helps...

What do you guys think? All three razors look to be in good shape but could obviously use some restoration love and care. Does anyone use any of these particular razors themselves?

I think you should tell me where this antique shop is, but only me, no one else. :)

Looks good. Can't tell if there's much hone wear. The size of the notch in relation to the overall width does suggest to me that it may have been a wider blade, but if it's a wedge, i can't see diminished size being a huge issue.

on those old W&B the scales are made out of horn so you may not want to have it rescaled .

Hard to tell from just one cell phone pic, but, judging by what its condition looks like in that pic, I'd say its similar to W&Bs that have been going for between $20 and $60 on eBay lately (depending on how crazed/insane bidders become).

At least, you can hold it in your hands and take a good look at before buying. If this one is also tagged as $20, and the blade has no chips or cracks and the scales have no serious cracks, chips, or bug bites (e.g. big chips with rounded egdes (some larva eat buffalo horn, similar to moths eating wool sweaters)) then I'd seriously consider grabbing it...

You may even be able to haggle a little and get 'em down to $18 or $15.

IME Boker and W&B are great shavers and worth buying if they are in good condition and the price is a fair one.

I'd have to see pics of the other two, but my instinct is to say buy them all if they look good.

Don't buy them all ! That would be financially irresponsable , besides you only really need one razor . BTW where did you say this shop is located ?:D

I would grab both of those babies before someone else does! They are both quality razors at an excellent price, and both should prove to be nice shavers, with proper honing.

Well I am heavily considering heading back over and buy all three tomorrow morning. I figure I could send them to someone to "inspect" for me and then worst case scenario if they need more touching up then what I am able to handle I'll post them up in the classifieds or rather msg any of you if interested and I'll sell them for what I pay for them.

Oh, and the shop is in Maine, if anyone is around the area i'll be happy to show ya it. THere were a couple Fredrick Reynolds blades too, how are those shavers?
