    Default Todays Finds

Will have the pics later tonight...

Neither of them are in great shape, but for the price I can grind them down to nothing while practicing my honing... I'm pretty sure though that I can make them both functional. I have been taking a 45x pocket microscope with me to the stores to examine the edges before purchasing.

Got a W&B IXL Wedge. I didn't measure it, but pretty sure it's 8/8. This is my first wedge that big, I can't believe how heavy it is.
Also got a CV Heljestrand frameback.

It's funny I don't hear much on here about the Heljestrands... I have two in my collection now. Do they have a reputation as being good shavers?

Yes, they have an excellent reputation. However, the swedish steel does not jive with my face, for whatever reason...

My bad... The wedge is a G. Wostenholm. I'm not sure why I thought it was a W&B when I posted earlier...

I was wondering about that with the IXL tag there. figured you just had something my limited experience knew little about.

This doesn't look like much, but my microscope showed no deep pitting at the edge. I'm gonna see what it looks like cleaned up. (besides, the price was right!)

    Same deal here...

Here are two others I found today, not mentioned above:

They all look rather worn, but not necessarily worn out. They should all make great shavers after a good honing.

Yeah. I was particularly concerned about the Heljestrand, but for $4 I figured it's worth a shot.

If anyone wants to see my pile of razors waiting for cleanup / restore (other than the Boker which is just waiting for a honing) you can see them here: Pictures by HNSB - Photobucket
