Hello,
I've got a birthday coming up, and I'm going to shout myself a new blade. I'm thinking of either a Hart (but the jury really is out on that), or one of these Wackers.
I know that the Wackers are generally spoken of quite highly, but I was hoping that someone here may actually have this model, and could comment.

I do not have this particular razor; however, I do own the same model in a 7/8 blade, and it is by far the best shaver I have. Go for it, you cannot go wrong with a Wacker, IMHO.
I had the "Master" and it was a great shaver. It will no longer shave because a curious "room-boy" in Nigeria broke it. Now all I have is a wacked Wacker. I am saving the scales.
They don't let us hurt room-boys. I wanted to shave him.
Wacker blades are great shavers, i don't have this model, but I have honed several, and one of my top 10 razors is a Wacker... His blades are very firm, and if not honed right can feel rough. but if you strop on newspaper it polishes the roughness out of the blades, and they will hold their own with any blade I've tried.
I would compare Wackers with the nicer Dovo's or Filarmonicas.

Good for you. I agree with the previous posts. If I was going to buy a new str8 razor right now, I'd buy a Wacker...In fact, I have already purchased a 6/8" Wacker "Old Sheffield." It should be in the mail this Monday.

+1 on the wacker , i have the 1/4 hallow spanish point and love it. the first thing i noticed about the wacker was the hefty size of the blonde horn scales, it just feels good in the hand, not like 90% of the razors out there. and if you dont like it you will have no problem selling it!
I've never heard anyone, whose opinion I respected, have anything but good things to say about Wacker razors. I've got a pair of 6/8s on the way to me as I type this. :y
I have never used either but unless I am mistaken they are different beasts- the wacker you are linking is a full hollow, the Hart is a 1/4 hollow. In MY opinion, the wacker seems a better buy- more fit and finish (ebony, gold wash, spanish point) for the same $$$.

I have four Wackers right now. I'd rather buy a Wacker even if I don't own a Hart razor.

I do not own the razor of which you speak, but I do have its cousin: the 6/8" Spanish point "Antik."
It is not only a gorgeous razor, but a sweet shaver, as well.
The Wackers are lovely razors. They do have hard steel, however, and must be sweetened by a honemeister with the magic touch.

I have the 15/16 Antik Wacker, and its a beaut! It shaves very well, and is a real pleasure to use.
I agree with others who have said that the steel is quite hard. Mine settled down after a few shaves though, and it seems to like lots of stropping.
They take a great edge though, and will give you really good shaves!

Just curious do whackers come shave ready?with a 300$ price tag I would hope so!

I have wacker 6/8 1/4 hallow french point with horn scales .
it's a hefty blade with great balance , the craftsmanship if excellent. It's one of my best shavers I would recommend wacker to anyone ,they are made by Herr Wacker one of the last razor makers around ,he's been making razors for a long time . hart is the "new kid on the block" and not to much is know about them , it seems there prices are kinda high for an unproven product

I agree with Obie on this one. I've bought six razors from John Crowley (and there will be more) four of them Wackers, and they have all had excellent edges. He is a great person to do business with.Quote:
