Is this a Solingen knock off? There is no name brand, different pinning look on each side and strange grind marks. Any advice would be appreciated as I have honed it and am very unsure that its ok.
Thanks,
Trey

I can't tell you anymore about that razor except what it says on the tang . It looks like a real straight . Try shaving with it and see what happens .
I've honed one of these too & IIRC it shaved quite ok.
Don't know who makes them or how durable the edge is but certainly lasted a full 3 passes unlike Pakistani razors which fail after one stroke :D
The razor looks like it was really made in Solingen, but also looks to have been sharpened by someone unfamiliar with straight razors. The marks on the spine look like they came from a grinding wheel, and there is a vertical line that looks like a gouge. The bevel looks like it is more than a 15 to 17 degree angle, from the photos. I think that with expert corrective honing you might get a good shaver out of this one.
I don't think it's actually legal for another company to lie about manufacturing origin so I'd have to say it's a legit solingen razor. but I'm not sure which one. I'd have a honemiester take a peak at it and see if it can be cleaned up. I wouldn't recommend trying a nything unless you'r familiar with honing and the like.
Looks legit to me, grind marks aren't all that uncommon. I have several showing grind marks.
