straight razor for ladies face

Hello, I hope I am allowed to post a new thread as my very first post ever. I also hope this doesn't break any rules. I need help though!

I am an esthetician. When I was in school I had the opportunity to use a tiny straight razor on my face. It was light blue thin aluminum and had a flower engraved on the end. It came in a box of 4 or 6 and was from Japan. I can not find them anywhere! I do not know what they are called because all of the writing on the box was foreign. I received them from an instructor at the school which is in another state.

I would very much like to find these razors so I can use them again. We used them dry. I know that sounds scary, but the instructor advised us to use them in the same direction as hair growth and use them dry. It never irritated my skin and I looked great. Even after 7 years of waxing--I still get pimples after. I am a licensed skin care therapist, I should not have to choose between pimples and hair!!

I've seen those at my local Japanese store I think (I do live in the San Francisco Japantown though, so that may be it). Just wondering, wouldn't they make your hair grow back thicker? Or stubble-y?

Huh, I'm curious about what these are too. If you look on the infamous Project Coochie Razor thread, you'll see that there is an ever-growing market for small, short razors that suit the ladies better.

How long was the blade on them? Were they disposable, or like a regular straight razor but smaller?

I'd say that a Japanese straight razor would be much more aesthetically pleasing than a disposable.

Also a lot more expensive.

Though given the choice, I'd go with the Japanese straight every time. It would be superior in every way except price (and maybe convenience).

I saw a Japanese video of a lady getting the facial shave treatment and thought I should try shaving my forehead near my hair lines and eyebrows. I shaved this area with the same soap and brush I use for shaving and I was so impressed at how it looked and felt after the shave and now I do this once per week.

I read a scientific article about this. Can't remember where I saw it (could probably dig it up by googling) but here was the gist: shaving hair does not make it grow back thicker. The root of the hair has no way of knowing that the hair has even been cut. However, cutting a hair will cause it to have a squared-off end, rather than the tapered end of an uncut hair, which can create the illusion that the hair has become thicker. So, like many myths, this one has a seed of truth.

Man...you stole the words right outta my mouth.....That's Craft right there,pure n simple.Beautiful !:) But then I would expect nothing less from the Japanese when it comes to art and cutlery for that matter.

you can find em without guards also, but i think they only come in pink without the guard... i know because i learned to shave with them before getting my straights. sooo sharp, but too light to get a nick-free shave with reliably.
