I hear about Goins, but I have no idea where to get it. I've also seen one book on ebay a lot, and I think JoeD and CarrieM have a copy of it - it's like brownish yellow on the cover with some pictures of razors...
The brownish one could possibly be this one?:
Standard Guide to Razors (Standard Guide to Razors Identification and Values) [Illustrated] by Roy Ritchie (Author), Ron Stewart (Author).
I found this on Amazon the other day.
Yup, pretty sure that's it B
If you can find a copy of "Collecting Straight Razors" by Robert Doyle it is a very good book.
Is this book as good as the Doyle book?
Amazon.com: Standard Guide to Razors (Standard Guide to Razors Identification and Values) (9781574325508): Roy Ritchie, Ron Stewart: Books
or is the Doyle book five times better? You can find it second hand for 5 times as much (50 bucks).
Thanks
I now have this book... It is a good book and well worth the price.. It hlps you determine a relative collector value for razor based on age, scale material, art work and overall collectability. Lots of pics and examples to help you figure out the system.
It has a hx of shaving and razors as well as some old time copie of honing and stropping instructions...
It is very hlpful...
I would like another book with more pics and identification of brand and value within brands.
Thank you for your help all... I'll start looking for a "Goins" and a Doyle... unless someone has an extra! 50.00 and more... wow... I should collect books!!
tnx again Maq
Tnx Jimmy,
I'll keep that in mind as I look or one.... Seems steep, but looked on Amazon and 50.00 was the cheapest and 130 the most expensive for the same book... that is now out of print... wow....tnx again... maq
