    Default junk pile find

Greetings to all.I'm not very familiar with straight razors so I could use some help.Today while on a outing I ran across an old junk pile deep in the brush. After a brief look I found an old straight razor.Apparently the top layer kept it in very good condition, out of the moisture. It only has a light powdery coat of oxididation that wiped off almost entirely! It has a transparent handle of yellowish orange.Cutting edge of 3in. total length of 6in.One side of the blade reads 350 PUMA Solingen made in Germany. The other side reads Henry Homeyer B.S. Co. Muskogee Okla. made in Germany. It appears to never been honed at all,and is still very sharp. It's value is unimportant to me,I'm interested in the history, date of manufacture,ect..Thank you in advance for any information!!

That is a great find, it is a highly sought razor. Good find. Also pictures would be great.

Pics would be great. My grandfather is actually a local historian of Muskogee. I'll ask him if he knows anything about that name. I'm past due calling him anyway.

Yea, people tend to really like Pumas. Sure, they are great blades, but, imo, one of the overhyped brands.

Keep an eye on that razor . I had a razor with the same color scales , and they started to rot (celluloid rot) . When celluloid rots , it emits a highly corrosive gas that will destroy the blade , and any other razors that are with it . It's like razor gangrene , and the only cure is to remove the scales , and replace them . I'm not saying this will happen to your razor , but I've read that some colors of celluloid are more prone to rot than others . If you smell an acidic smell , and/or see rust forming on your blade , your razor may have it . Again , I'm not saying it will happen , but you may want to keep an eye on it .
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

Checked with my grandpa, but the name wasn't familiar to him.

Wow! A puma buried in a junk pile in the brush... Great find!!!

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
