Took a little road trip. Stop at an antique store and found this Shumate. purchased it for just over $18. Was wondering if I made a good deal if anyone can advise me of that. Now I need to see about cleaning it up. Wish me luck.Attachment 39040

Can't really tell from the pics, but I think she'll clean up easy, and it looks like there is no wear on here at all, or hardly any. Great find.

A good deal you got there. If it was me I might take some 0000 steel wool with a bit of lubricant and rub the rough rust spots out as much as possible. Then a metal polish such as Semichrome, Maas, Flitz or what have you. Then hone it up or if you don't hone it up send it out and have it done. That should make a fine shaver for you.

Thanks guys. I will post pics after I clean it up.

Like Jimmy said, use 0000 grade steel wool(it can be purchased at any Home Depot or Loews) and use that to clean off the rust. I notice it is gentle enough not to leave any scratches and it gets the job done. Then follow it up with some Maas(metal polish) this stuff is great!!! i use my girfriends make up removal pads to apply the Maas on razors LOL .. It is soft and doesnt leave any lint. And to get really close to the edge/bevel without damaging it. I use a q-tip(cotton swab) Good luck with the project..
